Anyways, it was a very nice afternoon. We were able to find a fairly cheap bottle from one of our favorite wineries in the area (Andrew Murray), and discovered a new favorite (at least for me), Mandolina, which is a part of Lewis and Lewellen Vineyards. Would have loved to have hit up L&L's tasting room as well, but alas, it was too late.
BTW, if you prefer beer over wine and find yourself in Solvang, be sure to check out Firestone Brewery/Restaurant in nearby Buellton. Good stuff as well.
Any memorable wines or wine tasting experiences?

well I dont drink wine. But I did get to play DD on a wine tasting trip for my boyfriends family. That really endeared me to them and I got free pizza! When you live in NorCal you don't have to go to Solvang... you get to go to Napa!
ReplyDeleteWell, nothing really beats wine at a tratorria in Florence. Locally, though, I really love Wild Horse. Haven't been to Solvang in years -- your post is intriguing me. Blessings!
ReplyDeletePS -- aren't you glad you're not a Baptist?

MMM...Wine. MMM...Beer. Is there a scotch tasting possibility? Well, there should be.
ReplyDeletePoMo-Napa's great (went there a few months back), but Santa Barbara county's not too bad either! A lot of people say it's how Napa was 25 years ago - not too commercial or busy yet, but still some great wine!
ReplyDeleteTracy-Interestingly, Mandolina is LL's Italian label - all Italian-style wines! And very good too. And yes, responsibly enjoying a little wine (and dancing too) is a very important part of my faith :)
Hodgie-There has to be somewhere. There was a place in Solvang that had Sake tastings!
